3/10/2010 Inventory is above 300 homes in Orange for the first time in almost a year --
up by almost 18% in the past few weeks! Unfortunately, there are still not enough
homes at the affordable end of the spectrum to satisfy current buyer demand, which is
being driven predominately by first time buyers and investors. First time buyers are
also trying to take advantage of the $8,000 tax credit -- they must be in escrow by April
30, 2010 and close by June 30th -- and move up buyers may now be able to secure a
$6,500 tax credit (some restrictions apply).
Interest rates continue to stay at historic lows, with 30-year fixed rates for conforming
loans hovering between 4.75% and 5.25%, further driving demand in Orange County.
